Dr. Kenny graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
What is your favorite part about working at Midwest?
I am just starting at Midwest Animal Hospital and so far, my favorite part is the collaboration and camaraderie I see the whole team use together.
Why did you choose veterinary medicine as your career path?
This decision was multifaceted for me. As a child, I fell in love with my grandma’s Labrador breed dog named Buster and wanted to take care of animals as a result. As I went through general schooling, I fell in love with all the disciplines associated with veterinary medicine such as mathematics and sciences and other related disciplines. As I grew and matured through my studies, I realized I have a passion for caring for the community along with pet animals and the human families that care for them.
If you could give one piece of advice to pet owners, what would it be?
Socialize your pets as early as you safely can and as often as you can. Seeing pets terrified in the hospital due to non-socialization is very heartbreaking to see because you know they are just scared and do not know that we are trying to help them.
If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be and why?
If I had that choice, I have always wanted to be a jaguar. I just think they are so majestic and beautiful to behold and are one of the pound-for-pound strongest animals in the world. I have always been fascinated by them.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
First thing would be I have a very receptive mind that memorizes a lot of things so I have a highly retentive memory, especially when it comes to academic and related subject matter. Second, I love playing video games. My family bought me almost every game system throughout my life and I fell in love with them. Third, I love listening to music. I love all kinds of music, but hip hop is my favorite.
