Cat & Dog Imaging Services We Offer

As a full-service animal hospital, we believe we should be able to provide a broad range of diagnostic services to accommodate the varying needs of our patients. These include:

  • Digital X-ray/digital dental X-ray
  • CT scan
  • Ultrasound – abdominal and thoracic
  • Digatherm
  • In-house Idexx laboratory
  • ECG (electrocardiography)

Cat and Dog X-Rays

Our digital X-ray equipment is far superior to traditional film X-ray. It uses less radiation, allows us to capture quality images faster, and we can email your pet’s X-rays out to specialists if necessary. We recommend X-rays to monitor or detect issues related to the bones, joints, heart, and lungs. Following a physical exam and blood work, we might suggest an X-ray for your dog or cat to get more information about their condition.

Cat and Dog Ultrasound

Cat and dog ultrasound focuses on the soft abdominal organs. With concentrated sound waves, ultrasound helps us check for the presence of fluid, cysts, tumors, and other abnormalities in pets. We can also use ultrasound to check for or monitor animal pregnancies.

CT Scan

CT stands for ‘computer tomography.’ At Midwest Animal Hospital, we utilize CT technology to produce highly detailed 3D images of your pet’s internal structures. With traditional CT scan, the machine must circle around the patient multiple times to generate all the necessary images (slices) to create a full, composite image. Our NewTom 5G Vet Cone Beam CT imaging machine only needs to circle around the patient once to obtain all the necessary data to create a complete 3D image.

Our CT scan equipment yields many benefits, including less radiation exposure for your pet, less sedation needed, clearer images, and a faster diagnosis.

Electrocardiography

Our electrocardiography (ECG) machine gives us the ability to measure the electrical impulses of your pet’s heart and detect abnormalities such as heart disease. The electrical activity of the heart is studied by attaching small electrodes to the limbs and chest wall of the patient. This procedure is completely noninvasive and painless.
